Rice Farm

The Rice Farm

The rice farm was acquired in 2000 at a size of 132 acres with 50 acres of planted rice.  Currently the farm is in a developmental phase, with the planting of Kilombero short grain rice.  In order to assist with the ongoing shortages of grain in Tanzania, we are looking at replanting with the new form of sustainable rice, Nerica, considered to have a higher yield while requiring less water and fertilizer.  The farm is also being considered for usage by European Universities for the purpose of rice research, growing new varieties for higher yields.
