The Coffee Estate

KL Coffee Estates supports the need to change farming practices to minimize the ecological footprint and has put into place environmentally conscious farming practices.  We have minimized the environmental impact of using harsh fertilizers by reducing the amount used and substituting with naturally composted material.  The estate has won multiple awards for the quality of its coffee produced including the "Coffee Quality Award" presented by the Tanzania Coffee Association.

Location: Our coffee estate, with an area of 904 acres at an altitude of 1500m is located in Igamba, Mbozi.

Soil: Combination of sandy loams and red clay soil

Coffee Variety:

  • Mbozi Arabica - 78%

  • TACRI Dwarf Variety 11 - 10%

  • KLL Mbozi

  • Tacri Arabica - 11%

Flowering Season: October to November, depending on irrigation and seasonal rains

Harvesting Season: May to August

Fermentation Process: Eco Pulper, an environmentally conscious process that has lower water consumption and does not pollute the water in the process. A natural fermentation process without the use of enzymes or chemicals.

Drying Method: Pure sun drying on racks
